List of herbs found in Sikkim

This is a list of herbs found in Sikkim, these herbs have very much medical value.

Botanical name: Asparagus racemosus
Local name: AtishIt is a kind of herbs found in sub-alpine to alpine region at an elevation of 8,000 to 13,000 feat. It's roots are used as anti-fertility, anti-periodic agent. It is used traditionally to cure hyteria, piles and various throat diseases.

Botanical name: Aconitum ferox
Local name: Bikh, Bish
It is a kind of perennial herb found in temperate and alpine zones at an altitude to 10,000 to 14,000 ft. It is used to cure cough, asthma, leprosy, fever and many kinds of skin diseases.

Botanical name: Astilbe rivularis
Local name: Buriokahti
It is a herb found usually on an altitude of 5,000 to 9,000 ft. It is used traditionally to cure many
diseases. It's leaves, roots are used to cure diseases like dysentery, diarrhoea and is used as blood purifier.

Botanical name: Bergenia ciliata

Local name: Pakhanbed
It is a herb found in temperate to sub alpine zone on an altitude of 5,000 to 13,000 ft. It's roots are used to cure fever.

Botanical name: Gloriosa superba
Local name: Langarey Tarul
It is a herb and a climber. It is found in low hills up to 3,500 ft. It's roots are used to cure chronic uclers, leprosy, abdominal pains and piles.

Botanical name: Glyeine soja
Local name: vhatmas
It is a erect herb found at an elevation of around 3000 ft. It is rich in minerals,  vitamins and has good nutritional value.

Botanical name: Nardostachys jatamansi
Local name: Jatamansi
It is a herb usually found at an elevation of 11,000 to 17,000 ft. It is used to cure skin, diseases, uclers, leprosy and cough.

Botanical name: Viscum articulatum
Local name: Harchur 
It is a herb found on an altitude of 1,000-6,000 ft. The whole plant body can be used to cure ulcers, epilepsy, muscular pains, injuries,  fracture etc.

Botanical name: Valeriana jatamansi
Local name: Nakali Jatamansi
It is found in middle hills are and is used to cure many diseases. Roots are given in case of hysteria, epilepsy and neurosis to the patient.

Botanical name: Chenopodium album
Local name: Bethu Saag
It is found in areas of middle and lower hills. It improves appetite, laxative, diuretic, eye diseases, throat troubles, piles, blood heart and spleen diseases. It is used as a pot herb in piles.
